Publicly Supported Psychotherapy for Adults
If you have a referral from your general practitioner, you can access psychotherapy at a reduced cost, typically around 400 DKK per session, under the Sygeforsikringen "Danmark" health insurance plan.
Permanent Free Psychological Treatment for Young Adults
A successful pilot program offering free psychological treatment for 18 to 24-year-olds with anxiety and depression has been made permanent. Access to this service requires a referral from your general practitioner.
Psychological Help for Children Under 18
Children and teenagers under 18 are entitled to psychological support under a specific practice agreement, although it does not include treatments for anxiety and depression. A general practitioner's referral is required to access these services.
Understanding Waiting Times for Therapy
The availability of publicly supported psychotherapy is controlled through a quota system, which limits the number of psychologists who can offer publicly funded services and the number of patients they can see.
